Metallic Text Effect

OK here is the first simple tutorial of how to make the metallic  text effect

Ghislain Mac Text Step 1 
Open a new document in Adobe Illustrator and draw a rectangle with the black background. type whatever you want inside the rectangle. I choose “bauhaus” like the name of the font I used: Step 1

Step 2
Select (using the section tool) your text and right click and choose ‘Create outlines’: Step 2

Step 3
In swatch tab choose the “white and black” gradient colour for your text:

Set the gradient properties in the Gradient Tab Tool like this:

Step 4Set the stroke colour to dark grey and the strok “weight’ to 2 pixels (in the stroke tab). Ajust the gradient position and you will get something like this: Step 4 (B)

Step 5
OK, now add a reflection to your text Duplicate your text (select and CTRL+C (To copy), then CTRL+V (To paste) ) and go to Object > Transform > Reflect.

Step 5 (A) Remove the stroke and set the gradient properties like here:

Now change the text “shear angle” (object > Transform > Shear )  to 20 degrees (depending on your text and font)Step 6

then resize the text to a small height dimension you are done!
